‘Trade and Development Report 2019’ released by the United Nations

1. The ‘Trade and Development Report 2019’ released by the United Nations says that Pakistan’s economic crisis has not been resolved despite the fact that support from China and Saudi Arabia and a large IMF loan have helped address the immediate problem.

2. The sanctions committee of the UN Security Council has allowed Pakistan to let Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed use his bank account for personal expenses.

3. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi boycotted the speech of Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the meeting of SAARC Council of Ministers in New York.

4. Prime Minister Imran Khan, addressing a UN event on financing for development,said that while it is true that illicit financial flows adversely affect wealthy countries, such movement of ill-gotten money is "devastating the developing countries" across the world.

5. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government to support its Ehsas initiative on poverty alleviation, under which it will provide Pakistan an amount of 200 million dollars.

6. The model court in Multan handing the Qandeel Baloch murder case has reserved its verdict which is likely to be announced today.
